the solar panal in the ceiling of some of the rv’s i’ve seen, what does it do?

i’ve seen a solar panal in the ceiling of a (RV) a motor home. my question is what service does the panal provide

It is there to recharge batteries that are used in the pumps, fans and electrical outlets. A generator can also be used….along with electricity powered by the car/truck alternator, of course……….but on a sunny day, why not let the sunshine do the work and save gasoline/LP-gas???!!!

MOST rv’s spend a lot of time sitting and waiting for the next trip. The solar panels keep the batteries topped off during those periods. Lead acid batteries do NOT like being drained, as it reduces their performance at least, and ruins them at worst.
