The one with breakers ties into another breaker box that is in my shop in the back yard. Is it possible to wire my shop to act as a solar powered UPS for my home? I like the idea of starting off with a bank of batteries that can power my home for up to a day in case of power outages. (I live in town, and don’t see a need for more than 24 hours of backup power) I believe I could start off with only a few panels to trickle charge the batteries and once they are charged the panels could then help suply electricity to power my home. I could then add panels as I can afford them to continue to lower my electric bill… maybe even to the point that I could achieve a near zero $$ bill. I know that planning is very important, and nothing beats conservation… so even though I know, and I mean believe I know, that this should all be possible… can someone provide me with some good ideas on how I can plan out my different stages to make this all possible?

<p

I looked into solar panels, but apparently it isn’t worth the money to buy one. Someone suggested a windmill. I have a large three bedroom home and the heating and cooling bill is killing me. Would a windmill work?

I’ve search the internet extensively and haven’t found an answer to this question.
